Jewish Women’s Voices Seminar: Dr Rachel Garfield, ‘Jewish Women, Punk Feminism, and Art in the 1970s and 1980s’

A discussion focusing on Jewish women whose artwork emerged from the punk ethos in the 1970s and 1980s.

The seminar explores Jewish women's connection to the punk ethos, examining why women were central to the punk scene despite societal expectations. Dr Garfield will use film excerpts and key themes from the 1970s and 1980s to address the impact of punk and the undercurrents of Jewishness in their work. The conversation is introduced and moderated by Dr Aviva Dautch.
