About
Samantha Ellis discusses her book, 'Chopping Onions on My Heart', exploring themes of cultural erasure, language loss, and inherited family history.
The seminar examines what it means to inherit a language and culture that is disappearing, focusing on the history of Iraqi Jewry. Ellis draws on family interviews and historical sources to discuss how life-writing can recover connections to histories disrupted by displacement. Dr Aviva Dautch will introduce and moderate the discussion.
