Dorking Concertgoers: Sacconi String Quartet 2

The Sacconi String Quartet performs Caroline Shaw's Nimrod, Walton's Quartet in A minor and Beethoven's Quartet in A minor, Op.132 at Dorking Halls.

The Sacconi String Quartet's second concert opens with Caroline Shaw's short piece inspired by the story of Nimrod and the Tower of Babel. It continues with William Walton's only surviving quartet, notable for its lovely slow movement, and closes with Beethoven's late Quartet in A minor, Op.132, whose slow movement is marked as a 'hymn of thanksgiving'.
