Skull and Bone Identification of British Mammals (2-day course)
About
A two-day residential course with Ric Morris teaching techniques for identifying the skulls and bones of British mammals.
This two-day course at FSC Preston Montford teaches bone identification techniques suited to mammal recording, so that skulls and bones found during surveys or walks can be confidently identified rather than discarded. Topics include the structure and naming of skeletal parts, distinguishing mammal bones from those of other animal groups, differentiating diet types, ageing mammals from bones, identifying fragments, and an introduction to owl pellet analysis. Delegates can examine, handle, draw or photograph specimens from an extensive collection, and places are limited to 12. The course runs from 10am on Saturday to around 4pm on Sunday, includes overnight accommodation, meals and refreshments, and a CPD certificate is available on completion.
