Mercat Tours - Witches: Trial & Truth Halloween Edition

A Halloween walking tour through Edinburgh's Old Town uncovering the real history of Scotland's witch trials, led by a Mercat Tours Master Storyteller.

This Halloween walking tour explores the history of Scotland's witch trials, in which around 2,500 people, mostly women, were executed. Guided through the Old Town's closes and alleyways, participants hear the stories of accused individuals such as Agnes, Geillis, Janet and John, and pause at Castlehill, where hundreds were burned at the stake. The tour runs afternoons and evenings between 23 and 31 October 2026.
