Matthew Rice for A Year in the Garden

Artist and author Matthew Rice discusses his book A Year in the Garden, about a year at Ham Court in the Cotswolds.

Matthew Rice, painter, designer and author of books on architecture, presents A Year in the Garden, a guide to gardening and enjoying nature through the seasons. The book documents a typical year at Ham Court, his Cotswolds estate bought in 2012, whose orchard, paddock, greenhouse and farmyard surround fragments of the medieval Bampton Castle. Rice covers the daily work of gardening — planning, planting, harvesting and setbacks — alongside anecdotes, practical advice and seasonal recipes, with his own illustrations throughout.
