In the Footsteps of Mudlarks – Wapping
About
A guided archaeology walk explores the Thames foreshore at Wapping, examining surface artefacts that reveal the river’s history. Meet outside the River View Chinese restaurant at 1 New Crane Place in Wapping. The steps have a 40 cm drop onto the foreshore and no handrail, so this route may not suit people with mobility difficulties. Booking is essential. Children must be at least eight and accompanied by an adult, with no more than two children per adult. Wear sturdy footwear; waterproof gloves and hand sanitiser are recommended. Artefacts remain on the foreshore: take photographs, knowledge and memories. Starts vary with tide and weather; use the published time for each session. Income supports the charity’s school programmes.
