About

This talk presents an overview of the forthcoming book, 'The Reuse of Sacred Spaces in the Levant: From Late Antiquity to the Crusader Period'.

The monograph explores the architectural reuse of pagan temples as synagogues, churches, or mosques across Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and Palestine. It examines 'conversion' as an archaeological phenomenon, reviewing nearly a hundred sites. The presentation will illustrate the monograph's approach using sites like Jebel Harun in Petra and the Temple of Jupiter in Baalbek.
