The Suffragette's Murder
About
A screwball 1857 farce by Sandy Rustin in which boarding-house residents hide their illegal suffragette activities while investigating a murder.
Set in 1857 New York's Lower East Side, the play follows the eccentric residents of the Mayhew Boarding House as they secretly organise a gathering for the early women's rights movement. When a constable arrives to investigate a shocking murder on the property, the group launches a wild comedic ruse to conceal their illegal feminist activities and find the killer. Written by Sandy Rustin, the farce blends screwball comedy, historical intrigue and a whodunit. Performances last approximately 90 minutes without interval and begin at 7.30pm.
