The World of Beethoven

A chamber concert of Beethoven's Septet and Holst's rediscovered Sextet for winds and strings, directed by Sarah Brandwood-Spencer.

A chamber music concert pairing Beethoven's Septet, a hugely popular work in his own lifetime, with Holst's Sextet, an early piece rediscovered in the British Library roughly a century after it was written. Both works were composed when their creators were in their twenties and are scored for winds and strings, full of lively exchanges and warmth. Directed by Sarah Brandwood-Spencer, the performance lasts approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes with no interval.
