About

A £5 one-hour talk on the history of the London & North Eastern Railway, from its 1923 formation to nationalisation in 1948.

A talk exploring the London & North Eastern Railway, which existed for just twenty-five years between the 1923 grouping of railway companies and nationalisation in 1948. The session covers the formation of the enterprise from dozens of pre-grouping companies, its reputation for technical innovation and express passenger trains such as The Silver Jubilee and The Coronation, and the move towards state ownership. Doncaster, where LNER trains were built, features prominently. The talk lasts one hour and booking is required.
