Bardi Symphony Orchestra: 40th Anniversary Concert
About
The Bardi Symphony Orchestra marks its 40th anniversary with a concert of Gershwin, Rachmaninov, a new Mottram commission and Elgar's Enigma Variations.
Conducted by Jonathan Lo, the Bardi Symphony Orchestra's 40th Anniversary Concert explores friendship and joy in music. The programme opens with Gershwin's Cuban Overture, followed by Rachmaninov's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini with pianist Thomas Kelly, a Liszt Piano Competition finalist. After the interval comes a newly commissioned anniversary work, Concordia, by orchestra member Paul Mottram, and Elgar's Enigma Variations, chosen for its celebration of friendship. A pre-concert talk takes place in the auditorium from 2pm.
