Baroque to Rococo (In-Person)
About
A 10-week in-person V&A Academy art history course exploring European Baroque and Rococo art from 1650 to 1790, led by Dr Kathy McLauchlan.
This V&A Academy year-course term runs every Thursday from 1 October to 3 December 2026, 10.00–16.45, in Seminar Room 3 at the V&A South Kensington. Expert-led lectures trace European art from the grandeur of French Baroque to the exuberance of Italian Rococo, covering themes such as French Grandeur, Art and its International Connections, and Artists and Patrons, and discussing figures including Wren, Chardin and Gainsborough. Participants also enjoy an exclusive 18th-century toilette demonstration and gallery talks in the V&A's collections, plus 10 weeks of lecture recordings to catch up after the course ends. The course is suitable for participants aged 18 and over.
