Woodturning Weekend Course
About
A beginner-friendly weekend woodturning course at the Chippendale International School of Furniture, running on selected dates from October 2026 to February 2027.
Taught by the school's woodturning specialists Iain Stirling and Fi Gilfillan, this accessible weekend course offers an entry point into woodworking with a focus on woodturning and round joinery. Students learn to work a lathe and are introduced to a range of tools and techniques, including making tenons, tapered legs, and sanding and finishing on the lathe. Over the weekend each student makes a stool or plant stand with a wooden turned top and three legs, and the skills are designed to be scalable to other projects. Sessions run 9am to 4.30pm on selected dates.
