Richard Billingham: Public Spaces
About
A work-in-progress photographic exhibition by Richard Billingham exploring how people inhabit and negotiate Swansea's public spaces.
Richard Billingham's new work-in-progress examines the streets, bridges, pavements and civic places where people become visible to one another, made primarily in Swansea, his home for over twenty years. The project considers how different people — from those experiencing homelessness or addiction to buskers, protestors and passers-by — inhabit the same streets in different ways. Timed as Britain marks the tenth anniversary of the Brexit referendum, the work invites reflection on the changing social and economic landscape of Britain's towns and cities. A public preview takes place on Friday 2 October, 6–7pm.
