Stressing Cells to Make Them Talk - Hijacking Cell Communication to Improve Healthy Ageing
About
An open lecture by Professor Ryan Pink on how stressed cells communicate via vesicles and what this means for healthy ageing and disease detection.
Oxford Brookes University hosts an open lecture delivered by Professor Ryan Pink on hijacking cell communication to improve healthy ageing. He will explain how cells release and uptake vesicles known as exosomes, which carry molecules that help healthy cells develop but can also drive diseases such as cancer, dementia and heart disease. The talk covers his work on stressing cells, capturing vesicles from blood, translating the 'conversations' of disease, how exercise may support healthy ageing, and how these vesicles could improve early cancer detection. The lecture runs from 6pm to 7pm on 2 December 2026.
