Hedd Wyn & A Pack of Five
About
A free Welsh Film Festival screening pairing Paul Turner's Oscar-nominated Hedd Wyn with John Parr's short film A Pack of Five.
As part of the Welsh Film Festival (Gwyl Ffilmiau Cymru), Theatr Gwaun screens Hedd Wyn, Paul Turner's 1992 film about the young North Wales poet who competes for the National Eisteddfod's Chair before being sent to fight in the trenches of the First World War — the first Welsh film nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the Oscars. It is paired with John Parr's 2025 short A Pack of Five, in which five soldiers on the Somme share a moment of peace unaware of the bond between them. The 110-minute feature is subtitled and the screening is free, with donations welcomed.
