Crewel Work – Heritage Embroidery Skills – 2-Day Workshop for Beginners & Improvers
About
A two-day mixed-ability crewel embroidery workshop at Mrs Duttons Wondrous Workshops in Ilkley, teaching Jacobean designs and heritage stitching techniques.
This two-day class introduces the traditional craft of crewel work, an embroidery style dating back to the 11th century and refined in the Jacobean period, featuring motifs of leaves, flowers and animals. Tutor Jacqueline, drawing on her experience with the Royal School of Needlework, covers material selection, design transfer and stitching methods. Beginners explore Jacobean designs while learning essential crewel stitches, and returning stitchers can expand their technique and design repertoire. The mixed-ability format welcomes both newcomers and experienced stitchers.
