Brilliant Bats
About
A 90-minute Nature Club session for ages 5–9 exploring bats through skeleton X-rays, bat masks, echolocation games and woodland bat box spotting.
November's Nature Club at the Science Oxford Centre is themed around bats in the wintry season. Children aged 5–9 can examine bat bones via a skeleton X-ray comparison, colour and cut out a bat mask, and make a flapping paper bat to take home. Outdoors, families can spot bat boxes in the woodland and learn how bats roost, while the blindfolded 'bat game' teaches echolocation using voice and ears. Each 90-minute session is led by expert club leaders, with adult accompaniment required and activities designed for children and adults to work together.
