Lecture: Emily Wingfield, Mary and her Books: The Literary Life of Mary, Queen of Scots
About
Emily Wingfield asks what Mary, Queen of Scots’ books and writings reveal about her literary life.
Emily Wingfield draws on research for her book on Scotland’s Royal Women and European Literary Culture and her planned edition and translation of Mary, Queen of Scots’ literary works. The lecture considers how Mary’s books, some annotated with her own verse, may offer a new perspective on her life and on the relationship between her reading, writing and material culture. The published programme places the regular meeting in person at the Society of Antiquaries and says lectures are livestreamed; members may bring guests. Physical attendance requirements and price are not stated.
