Lecture: Emma Smith, George Hibbert and the Roxburghe Club

Emma Smith explores George Hibbert’s role in the early Roxburghe Club, his book collecting and political activity.

Emma Smith examines George Hibbert’s involvement in the Roxburghe Club after its first anniversary dinner, including his collecting and the political and lobbying activity that brought other members into the club’s early history. The published programme places the regular meeting in person at the Society of Antiquaries and says lectures are livestreamed; members may bring guests. Physical attendance requirements and price are not stated.
