Freddie Mercury | Splendid Things
About
A free trail of eight Freddie Mercury costumes displayed around the V&A, marking the star's 80th anniversary year.
This display, dotted around the V&A, celebrates Freddie Mercury in his 80th anniversary year with eight looks spanning his career, from music videos to legendary performances. The costumes, spanning the 1970s and 1980s, chart the development of his theatrical stage persona from Queen's early concerts to the band's later arena shows. Each costume is shown alongside objects and interiors reflecting Mercury's interest in art, design and fashion, with specially made mannequins posed to recreate his stage presence and installations using sound, lighting and theatrical set dressing.
