Weekday Wonderings Walking Tour with Pete Shawyer: Southampton Stonemason’s Vaults Walk

A guided walk with former city stonemason Pete Shawyer unlocking and exploring Southampton's medieval merchant vaults.

Part of the Weekday Wonderings programme from Southampton City Council Cultural Services, this 90-minute walking tour explores the vaults beneath Southampton's streets. Former city stonemason Pete Shawyer, who has explored and worked on the vaults since the 1960s, will unlock a selection of the medieval merchant-built vaults and share his knowledge of their history and construction. The tour is unsuitable for people with mobility concerns and may be cancelled in adverse weather.
