Nathaniel Dett - The Ordering of Moses
About
A concert performance of Nathaniel Dett's oratorio The Ordering of Moses by combined choirs, soloists and orchestra, closing Coventry Cathedral's Black History Month.
Coventry Cathedral Chorus, Divertimento and Royal Leamington Spa Bach Choir, around 150 voices in all, join soloists and the Leamington Sinfonia for a performance of Nathaniel Dett's oratorio The Ordering of Moses, which fuses European classical oratorio with African American Spiritual traditions. The programme also includes Undine Smith-Moore's Love Let the Wind Cry, Watch and Pray and Samuel Coleridge-Taylor's Ballade in A Minor. The concert forms the finale of the cathedral's Black History Month and is conducted by Jim Bate and Michael Karcher-Young.
