A performance of Benjamin Britten's War Requiem, described as a moving and forceful indictment of war written in response to the losses of the two world wars. The work calls for huge forces — symphony orchestra, chamber orchestra, full choir, children's choir and solo singers — with soloists representing the nationalities Britten chose at the premiere: Germany, Russia and Britain. Kazuki Yamada conducts the approximately 80-minute performance, given without interval.
