About
A talk by Rory Loughnane exploring the intertwined careers and possible collaboration of Christopher Marlowe and William Shakespeare.
Rory Loughnane, Reader in Early Modern Studies at the University of Kent, examines the relationship between Christopher Marlowe and William Shakespeare, born eight weeks apart in 1564. The talk traces their early careers from the late 1580s to Marlowe's death in 1593, considering whether they were rivals or collaborators and how both shaped England's commercial theatre. It also touches on recent scholarship suggesting they may have co-written several history plays. The session lasts 90 minutes with doors at 10:50 AM.
