Mid Wales Opera: Gianni Schicchi (Puccini)

Mid Wales Opera performs Puccini's one-act comic opera Gianni Schicchi followed by a second half of popular Italian music.

Mid Wales Opera presents a full evening of Italian opera opening with Puccini's one-act comedy Gianni Schicchi, in which the greedy relatives of the dead Buoso Donati scheme over his will and the wily Gianni Schicchi devises his own ingenious solution. The melodic score includes the famous aria "O mio babbino caro". The second half is a feast of popular Italian music presented by the company's 15-strong ensemble of singers and musicians. The performance lasts 120 minutes, with an optional free but ticketed Touch Tour at 6.30pm exploring the production's set, props and costumes.
