Grass

A centenary screening of the 1925 silent documentary Grass in a new restoration, with live music performed by Peyman Yazdanian and Adib Rostami.

The University of Sheffield marks the centenary of the silent cinema classic 'Grass: A Nation's Battle for Life' (1925) with a screening of a brand-new restoration courtesy of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The film, directed by Merian C. Cooper and Ernest B. Schoedsack, documents the annual migration of Iran's nomadic Bakhtiari tribes. Pianist and composer Peyman Yazdanian performs a live accompaniment, joined by Adib Rostami on kamancheh and tombak.
