About
A free fossil display at the Herbert exploring the Jurassic sea creatures that lived in Coventry and Warwickshire, featuring the ichthyosaur skull Finn.
Presented with Warwickshire Museum, this drop-in display showcases fossils from the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum and Warwickshire Museum collections dating from 200 to 145 million years ago, when much of the region lay underwater. The star exhibit is Finn, an ichthyosaur skull found in Harbury Cement Quarry and held by the Herbert since the early 1960s, restored in 2023. The display is held in the Herbert's covered court beside Dippy and is available during opening hours.
