About
A hands-on workshop making a plaster mould, casting a tile and carving a traditional Islamic design, led by Mariam Ashraf.
This four-hour hands-on workshop introduces traditional gypsum carving, historically used for qamariyas and tiles in the Islamic world. Participants make a plaster mould from scratch, cast a tile, then transfer and carve a traditional Islamic design using carving tools. Led by Mariam Ashraf and supported by the School of Calligraphy and Ornamentation in Fujairah, UAE, the session is open to all regardless of faith, for ages 15 and over.
