About

The Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra opens its Beethoven anniversary series with the First Piano Concerto and the 'Eroica' Symphony, directed by Marios Papadopoulos.

Marking two hundred years since Beethoven's death, the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra launches a year-long celebration with a concert at the Sheldonian Theatre. Marios Papadopoulos directs from the keyboard in Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 1 in C major, then conducts the Symphony No. 3 in E flat major, the 'Eroica'. A pre-concert talk by Richard Wigmore at 18:30 previews the themes of the Beethoven Year season. The concert lasts approximately 120 minutes.
