About
Esa-Pekka Salonen conducts the Philharmonia Orchestra in Strauss's Also Sprach Zarathustra and Beethoven's Eroica symphony at The Anvil.
The Philharmonia Orchestra, Anvil Arts' Orchestra in Partnership, returns to The Anvil under conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen. The programme pairs Strauss's Also Sprach Zarathustra, famous for its striking opening fanfare and enigmatic ending, with Beethoven's Symphony no. 3 (Eroica), whose funeral march and inventive finale transformed symphonic form. A free pre-concert talk about the pieces is offered before the concert.
