Exhibition: The Town Musick

An exhibition at Danum Gallery, Library and Museum exploring Doncaster Corporation's historic band of musicians, the Waites, active from 1457 until 1832.

This exhibition tells the story of the Waites, Doncaster Corporation's own band of civic musicians first appointed in 1457. Paid a retainer and provided with livery, the Waites supplied musical entertainment to the Corporation and citizens of Doncaster until their dismissal in 1832. Displays bring to life their history and duties, alongside their clothing and instruments.
