Art History: Art, Revolution and the Making of Cities – Berlin 1919
About
An informal art history talk examining how artists in Berlin responded to the upheavals of 1919, part of a five-part series on cities at turning points.
This is the first of five informal art history talks exploring cities at moments of dramatic historical change. The Berlin 1919 session looks at how artists portrayed the upheaval in Germany following World War One, and whether art itself was transformed by political crisis. Tutors Trevor Allen and Sally Gower, both retired teachers from Leicester Grammar School, encourage discussion, debate and questions; no prior knowledge of art history is required. Sessions run 10.30am–12pm and participants must be aged 18 or over.
