Balsall Heath Repair Café
About
Volunteer menders help visitors repair household electronics, phones, clothes and textiles, sharing practical skills to keep useful items out of landfill.
Volunteer menders help repair household electronics, mobile phones, clothes and textiles at The Old Print Works. The next session is Saturday 14 November, 12:30–16:00. No booking is needed: visitors are seen first come, first served. Bring one item and stay with it while a mender works with you; where practical, you can learn to make the repair yourself. Repair labour is free and voluntary donations support tools, spare parts, snacks and running costs. Replacement parts and consumables cost extra or may need to be supplied by the visitor. The mix of repair skills varies each month, so check the organiser’s announcements before attending. Repairs are at the owner’s risk and carry no guarantee. A mender may decline a job or leave an unrepairable item disassembled, and visitors must take their item home whether fixed or not. An additional item goes to the back of the queue if there is time. Visitors sign the disclaimer on arrival and are responsible for any children they bring.
