About

Explore Birmingham Museums’ stored collections, including steam engines, sculpture, Austin, Rover and MG cars, motorbikes and everyday objects connected with Birmingham and the wider West Midlands. Each visit begins with an optional introduction by two Visitor Experience Assistants, followed by time to look around the stores independently.

On 14 November, the 10:00 introduction, ‘A Case and a Half Full’, explores Cadbury chocolate and sweet boxes through the ages. At 13:00, ‘Everything but the Kitchen Sink’ looks at domestic objects from ancient Ur to modern appliances. Introductory themes for the two visits on 12 December have not been announced.

Advance booking is essential; tickets are not available on the day. The public entrance is via Nechells Business Centre, 31 Dollman Street, B7 4RP; the museum’s postal address is 25 Dollman Street, B7 4RQ. The entrance opens only 15 minutes before public access and closes 15 minutes after it begins. There is nowhere to wait nearby, so plan your arrival carefully.

Free parking, Blue Badge spaces, accessible toilets and lifts are available. Some areas have low lighting. There is no café. Visitors aged 16 or under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian aged 16 or over. General admission is free for members, children aged 0–2 and eligible personal assistants. The published Max Card policy permits free admission for up to two adults and two children. Eligible concession and companion tickets may require evidence. Personal assistants must be aged 16 or over; more than one requires prior arrangements, and assistant admission is not offered for children under 3.
