About
Local historian Jason Ubych gives a talk on the 1577 Easter Ross witch-hunt, in which 31 people were accused and at least ten burned.
In 1577, 31 people were accused of witchcraft in Easter Ross, with several tortured and at least ten burned. Jason Ubych, Manager of Tain & District Museum, explores one of the earliest major witch-hunts in the Highlands, covering the trials, the accusations and the figures at the heart of the story, including Lady Fowlis and Coinneach Odhar, later associated with the Brahan Seer. The hour-long talk takes place in the courtroom upstairs at the Carnegie Courthouse, with a bar available; doors open at 7:30 PM.
