Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra
About
The Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra performs Strauss's Don Juan, Prokofiev's First Violin Concerto and Rachmaninov's Second Symphony at The Anvil.
The Strasbourg Philharmonic returns to The Anvil following its 2024 visit, led by conductor Aziz Shokhakimov with violinist Maria Ioudenitch as soloist. The programme opens with Strauss's Don Juan, followed by Prokofiev's Violin Concerto no. 1, whose fairy-tale outer movements frame a quirky scherzo. Rachmaninov's richly scored Symphony no. 2 closes the concert, building from a recurring falling theme to a joyous, fanfare-filled finale. A free pre-concert talk about the pieces is offered separately before the performance.
