Young Historians Project presents a screening of 'Documenting the East London Black Women's Organisation The Early Years'
About
A free screening of the Young Historians Project documentary tracing the early years of the East London Black Women's Organisation, followed by a Q&A and archive display.
The Young Historians Project presents the first documentary to trace the story of the East London Black Women's Organisation (ELBWO), founded in 1979 after the first National Black Women's Conference. The film covers ELBWO's pioneering role in Black community and anti-racist circles, its campaigns for better education for Black children, its Saturday schools and youth programmes, and its support for local women's voices in community matters. The screening is followed by a Q&A, with a display of archive material on ELBWO and the Black Women's Movement from Black Cultural Archives' collections.
