Sylvia Plath, Witchcraft & Radical Poetry

A Seed Talks lecture by Dr Dorka Tamás exploring witchcraft, witch-trial imagery and radical politics in Sylvia Plath's poetry, followed by a Q&A.

Dr Dorka Tamás examines how Sylvia Plath drew on the history of the witch trials, near her Massachusetts home, and on renewed 1950s interest in them, using witch imagery to explore power, identity and injustice. The talk contrasts fictional 'evil' witches from fairy tales with the real historical victims punished by patriarchal systems of power. It is presented by Seed Talks, with doors at 6:30pm, last entry 7pm and the talk starting at 7:30pm, followed by a Q&A. The event is for ages 18 and over.
