About

Prof Robert Edgar explores folk horror’s haunted landscapes, hidden histories and enduring influence, from the 1970s to its 18th- and 19th-century roots.

This talk traces how the term folk horror became popular, from its first wave in the 1970s to its roots in the 18th and 19th centuries. It considers writers and films including Thomas Hardy and The Wicker Man, and is followed by a Q&A. Prof Robert Edgar, Professor of Writing and Popular Culture at York St John University, discusses the subject. Doors open at 19:30; the talk starts at 20:00. Age 16+.
