Friday Morning Talks: Hidden in Plain Sight – With Marc Heighway
About
A Friday morning talk by Marc Heighway revealing overlooked Second World War remnants across the New Forest, from airfields to a secret spy school.
Marc Heighway gives a photo-tour talk on the New Forest's Second World War legacy, covering airfields, training areas, D-Day camps, an embarkation point, a secret spy school, a POW camp and the site of the biggest bomb ever dropped on UK soil. He highlights wartime traces still visible in familiar places and the stories behind them. The talk takes place in the Museum's Learning Centre and lasts an hour. Heighway founded the New Forest & Hampshire Wartime Association and has appeared on Dan Snow's History Hit podcast, BBC Sounds and BBC News.
