Friday Morning Talks: Flying from the Past to Beyond the Future – With Anthony Inglis
About
Conductor Anthony Inglis gives a Friday morning talk on the extraordinary RAF career of his great-uncle, Air Marshal Sir Victor Goddard.
Grammy-nominated conductor Anthony Inglis returns to the museum's Friday Morning Talks series to explore the life of his great-uncle, Air Marshal Sir Victor Goddard, in greater depth. The talk covers Goddard's flying career from balloons and airships to the Avro 504K, Bristol Fighter and Sopwith Snipe, his pre-WWII diplomacy with Luftwaffe general Ernst Udet, and his role in organising the 'little ships' for Dunkirk. It also touches on the paranormal stories that made Goddard famous, including the 1919 Freddy Jackson 'ghost' photograph and his 1935 'slip through time' flight, later inspiring the film The Night My Number Came Up. The hour-long talk takes place in the museum's Learning Centre.
