Introduction to Silversmithing for Beginners
About
A beginners' silversmithing workshop where participants design and make their own silver jewellery item at a small home studio near Bamford.
This one-day workshop at Di Shimell's home studio in Yorkshire Bridge introduces traditional jewellery-making techniques to beginners. With only four places, each participant designs their own piece and chooses their silver, then learns skills including piercing, soldering, shaping, twisting, cleaning and polishing through demonstrations and personalised guidance. Attendees can make a ring, pendant or earrings, or set a stone, completing a handmade silver item in the 5.5-hour session; the silver used is charged at cost at the end.
