About

A hands-on introduction to hot forging covers fire management, heating metal, hammer techniques and safe forge work.

The course begins with an introduction to forge work before participants practise heating, bending, twisting, tapering and other hammering techniques. Each person makes traditional items to take home. The day involves physical work, with assistance and breaks available; lunch at the Market Garden Café is included. Meet at the café at 09:45 for a 10:00 start. The finish varies by tutor, who aims to conclude near 16:00. Maximum two participants.
