About
A free in-person lecture by Dr John Price on the history of the Deptford Ragged School and its impact on the local community.
Dr John Price, Consultant Historian for the Educating Deptford project, delivers an in-person lecture for the London and Middlesex Archaeological Society. He will outline the history of the Deptford Ragged School, founded in 1844 at the heart of working-class Victorian Deptford, discuss the work it undertook, and reveal its impact on the surrounding neighbourhoods. The talk also considers the families connected to the institution and the children who attended, about whom little is widely known.
