Mr Handel’s Christmas Story with Gabrieli Roar
About
Gabrieli Roar's Baroque orchestra and singers join local school and youth choirs to perform a new oratorio retelling the Christmas story through Handel's music.
Mr Handel’s Christmas Story is a new oratorio created by Gabrieli Artistic Director Paul McCreesh to celebrate Christmas and introduce young people to Handel’s music. The programme adapts highlights from Messiah and other Handel oratorios, re-texted to retell the Christmas story in full and ending with the Hallelujah chorus. Gabrieli’s Baroque orchestra and professional singers are joined by schools and youth choirs from across Selby District as part of the UK 2026 tour. Doors open at 5.45pm with refreshments available before the show.
