About

The Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra performs Sibelius's Finlandia and Seventh Symphony, Elgar's Cello Concerto with Guy Johnston, and Pépin's Un Monde nouveau.

Ben Glassberg conducts the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra in a programme framed by Sibelius: Finlandia, his cry for independence against Russian occupation, and the Seventh Symphony, written after Finnish independence. Between them comes Camille Pépin's Un Monde nouveau, an evocative meditation on the rebirth of the planet, and Elgar's Cello Concerto in E minor performed by Guy Johnston. The concert lasts 120 minutes.
