The Untold Story of Authentic Hackney Sound Systems (Era 80s - 90s) — History in the Making
About
Sound-system pioneers discuss Hackney’s 1980s and 1990s scene, followed by a creative-writing workshop for young participants.
The public panel and follow-on writing workshop are presented by Sound System Collective Art of Hackney, a partnership of Metro Glory Sound, R Consultancy, Afrikan Heritage Writers, Windrush19 and Hackney Archives. The organizer-published line-up names WJ Goodgroove (Special Touch Sound), Bevan (Sledgehammer Sound), Philip (Eastman Sound & Jungle Fever), Wayne Marshall, Highwayman (Touch Above Sound), Mark Professor (Soca Sagaboys & Stereo City Sound), Little Andy (Gemi Magic Sound), plus a pre-recorded interview with Aba Shanti I. Hosts are Sterling and DJ Snagger Dagger. The event is filmed for later deposit in the Hackney Archives collection, and BSL interpretation is offered. No age restriction beyond “all ages” is stated.
