About

Existential therapist Emmy van Deurzen joins philosopher Julian Baggini and Jonathan Webber to debate whether philosophy can serve as therapy.

Emmy van Deurzen, founder of the Existential Movement, discusses her new book Beginning to Live and the question of whether philosophical ideas can promote well-being or happiness. She is joined by host Julian Baggini and Jonathan Webber, Professor of Philosophy at Cardiff University and editor of The Penguin Book of Existentialist Philosophy. After an interval, the second half is led by audience questions and contributions. Suitable for ages 14+.
